Selecting a Reception Site for Your Wedding

Massachusetts Wedding Articles » Regional Wedding Info
If you are planning a wedding, then you certainly need a reception site. Brides and grooms want to find a beautiful location to celebrate their new union. Finding just the right location can sometimes be challenging. Some brides and grooms have even delayed their weddings by a year or two years -- just to get exactly the right location that they so desire!
But finding the best reception site does not have to be so hard. It is important for you to be a bit open minded and flexible about the location. The more open minded and flexible you are willing to be, the more possible choices that you will have available to you. Begin by making a list of all of your "needs." Your needs will include how many guests you have attending (even an approximate number is fine to get you started), what type of location you would like, what type of food you would like served (some locations offer on-site catering, others you will need to find a caterer) and any other needs that you happen to have. Then use this list to help you find the best locations. Probably the best place to start is by the capacity number, the number of guests that you anticipate attending the event. This will help narrow down the choice for many brides and grooms. Then look at your other selections. You will also need to discover if they have availability during the month or specific dates that you have in mind.
Then visit each location in-person. You will learn more about each location than you would simply by visiting their website. It is great to visit a location's website, as many of your basic questions can be answered. But it is important to visit a location in-person as you can see exactly what the rooms look like and what to expect for you and your guests. Take notes after visiting each location to see your impression. Ideally the bride and groom should visit the location at the same time, so they can gather their impressions at the same time. While some grooms feel that planning a wedding is the bride's job -- some grooms may wind up feeling disappointed when they discover they could have held more of a role in the decision making process.
Your final choice should be reviewing each location's contract and prices. Each bride and groom has a budget that they need to keep in mind. But your location for your wedding reception is often a very important decision. You can often get the location you would like and then learn to scrimp and save in other ways. Many brides and grooms have learned this budgeting tip to be helpful for their wedding planning. Be sure to read the contract fully so that you completely understand what is covered and what is not. Ask questions if you are unsure before signing anything. Your wedding should be beautiful and a day to remember.
