Are you a vegetarian and planning your wedding? Many vegetarians are passionate about their beliefs. It is important to many vegetarians that their wedding be vegetarian – just as every other day in their life is. There are many ways you can enjoy your wedding as a vegetarian reception. It is important to keep your guests in mind when planning your reception. They should enjoy whatever reception that you choose.
Choosing to have a vegetarian wedding is a personal choice. For some brides and grooms it is the best choice and for other brides and grooms they may want to consider adding a meat alternative to the menu. When planning a wedding the bride and groom will want to consider their guests’ comfort. Many vegetarians have friends who share their strong beliefs. Those that are vegetarian do so typically not simply for a diet – but for their beliefs. It makes sense that their friends would share their belief system and be vegetarians also. If the majority of your wedding guests are vegetarians then it might be appropriate to have a vegetarian reception. Your wedding guests would appreciate attending a vegetarian reception. That certain wedding guest would not feel comfortable seeing meat as a choice on the menu.
But if your wedding guests are more likely to not have vegetarian diets, then having a vegetarian wedding reception might actually be sort of off-putting. You do want to make your wedding guests comfortable and welcome at the reception. A great compromise would be to offer a meat alternative to the main dish for your guests. This would allow the wedding guests who were not vegetarians to have meat. The wedding guests who are vegetarians could eat the vegetarian diet. So this way everyone would be happy. This choice would work for everyone. To make this choice you would need to have information about your wedding guests. Ask the bride and groom and your family members about your intended wedding guests you can best make this decision.
It is important that your wedding be a reflection of your beliefs. It is very much your day to celebrate, and wedding guests expect this when they attend a wedding. But it is also important to play the proper host and hostess and make your guests feel comfortable and “at home.” You want your guests to enjoy themselves at your wedding – that’s the most important thing, not what you eat at your wedding!
